Omnitrans Awarded $8.4 Million through Federal Transportation Authority

The Federal Transportation Authority recently awarded B&A client, Omnitrans, $8,447,217 for a successful application developed for the Low or No Emission Grant Program and the Grants for Buses and Bus Facilities Competitive Program.

Funding will assist Omnitrans with purchasing four new 60-foot battery electric buses, as well as the purchasing and installation of bus charging infrastructure to support an increase in service frequency, new Sunday hours, and a transition to zero emission vehicles for the bus rapid transit line. Funding will also support workforce training and apprenticeship training in zero emission bus maintenance. The project will reduce emissions and improve air quality for numerous disadvantaged communities located along the project route by providing zero emission vehicles that can operate longer than previous models.
